Inside Business - MacArthur Center to host wearable art fashion show

The MacArthur Center in Norfolk will host a wearable art fashion show and exhibition, featuring original clothing pieces designed by high school students from the Governor’s School for the Arts.

Inspired by the Chrysler Museum’s exhibit, “Branding the American West,” the exhibition is slated to open with a fashion show at 2 p.m. on March 4.

Thirty-four students are slated to take to the catwalk that day at the mall’s center court to showcase their clothing creations, mall representatives said in a news release. Most clothing will be modeled by the students who designed them. The Governor’s School jazz band will perform from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. March 4.

After the show, the clothes will be displayed in the mall and visitors will vote for their favorite designs. The top three artists will win MacArthur Center gift cards. The exhibition will run through March 17 during the mall’s regular operating hours.
